More and more Elmhurst students are discovering the benefits of campus living. As a campus resident, you'll forge lifelong friendships, get to know students from other states and countries, and gain valuable leadership and team-building experience. Here's some of what you'll find here:
Convenience
When you live on campus, you're no more than a five-minute walk from classes, the library, the gym, student organization meetings, theater performances, and coffee with a friend at the EC Grille. You can get to your 9 a.m. class without fighting traffic, and you can participate in a late-night study group at the library with no worries about the drive home.
Plenty of options
You can choose from residence halls, apartments, and houses on campus. You can even live on a floor with special attributes, such as single-sex, coed, or quiet. We offer single, double, and quad rooms and suites. We also have shared and semi-private bathroom facilities.
Great facilities
Your residence hall room will be your home, so we make sure it's comfortable and well equipped. All student rooms feature Internet access, cable TV, and individualized phones and voice mail. Furniture is stackable, so you can arrange it to suit your needs and tastes. Each hall has lounge space with cable television, kitchen facilities, laundry room, and vending machines. Some residence halls are air-conditioned, and all campus living is smoke free. Campus parking requires a permit that is available at Campus Security. The fee for students residing in Cureton, Dinkmeyer, Niebuhr, Schick or Stanger Hall is $100 per semester for 2011-2012. More about residence options including apartments and houses information.
Flexible meal options
Campus residents choose from flexible meal plans, all of which offer great food options. You can use your plan at the dining hall; the E.C. Grill, a comfortable hang-out that serves snack-bar food until 11 p.m. most days; and at Seattle's Best Coffee bar. All meals feature fresh food prepared daily on the premises, including various hot dishes, seasonal fruits, yogurt, salads, snacks, deli sandwiches, and a variety of desserts.
Opportunities for leadership
Residential students at Elmhurst get involved and make a difference. For example, you could:
Great stuff to do
Elmhurst's residence halls sponsor movies, lectures, workshops, Halloween Helping Hands, Finals Week Candlelight Breakfast, Rock-the-U, Karaoke 4 Cash, food and clothing drives, and any other activities you and your hallmates can dream up.
A sense of community
As a member of Elmhurst's residential community, you'll make lifelong friends among your hallmates. Your resident advisers and our professional residence life staff will see you through good times and bad. Late-night conversations with friends over pizza may change the way you look at the world. From the day Elmhurst staff and faculty gather to help you move in, you'll be at the heart of a close-knit, caring community of learners.
