Residential students at Elmhurst have plenty of opportunities to get involved. By taking on a leadership position in your residence hall you'll develop important skills, meet new people and make a difference in your college community. Read below for more information on Elmhurst's residence life leadership positions.
Hall governments are student-led organizations that sponsor events and promote the development of students and their communities. Each hall's government meets on a regular basis and plans programs such as scavenger hunts, theme dances, building Olympics, band showcases, community service projects and barbecues. Participating in hall government builds students' leadership, programming and interpersonal skills. See your Resident Adviser or your Residence Life Coordinator for more details.
Residence Hall Association (RHA)
The Residence Hall Association is an organization composed of representatives from all five residence halls. RHA members participate in fundraising, make recommendations regarding residence life policy and plan programming for the entire residence community. To get involved, contact your Residence Life Coordinator or Assistant Director.
Conference Housing Assistant (CHA)
Conference Housing Assistants work with a wide variety of organizations that use the College's facilities over the summer. Students in this live-in, paid summertime position develop valuable customer service skills and live on campus for the duration of the job.
Peer Review Board (PRB)
The Residence Life Peer Review Board hears judicial cases involving policy violations that occur within the residence halls. Board members help establish community expectations and standards from a peer point of view. To apply, you must live with us through Residence Life, be in good standing with the College, and have sophomore standing or higher. by by September 13, 2013
Resident Adviser (RA)
The Resident Advisers or Apartment Resident Advisers (ARAs) plan and implement social and educational programs, foster a sense of community among residents, develop leadership skills, and promote a well-balanced and healthy environment in the residence halls, apartments and houses. RAs also represent the Office of Residence Life at many College functions, including orientation and recruitment of prospective students. RAs have the most frequent and direct communication with resident students.
Summer Resident Adviser (SRA)
The Summer Resident Adviser is the Resident Adviser's job during the Summer Term.
How to apply
The Office of Residence Life is restructuring the staff selection process for the 2013-2014 academic year. We will still maintain our formal spring process in search of student staff for the 2014-2015 academic year. However, as any unanticipated vacancies may present themselves through the 2013-2014 academic year, we welcome candidate applications on a ROLLING ADMISSION basis. This will allow candidates to apply year-round, but only applications received by the posted deadlines will be considered for the corresponding timeframe.
