Moving In

Welcome to Residence Life at Elmhurst College!

As you pack for your move, please review our FAQs.  To find the location of your new space, the Campus or the Elmhurst Terrace maps may be helpful.  The process of moving in varies by term, so please select the time of your move.

January Term

Shipping your belongings to campus.
If it is not practical to bring your things with you, they may be shipped separately.  The address is:

The mailroom staff will hold all packages for the resident student's arrival. 

Resident students should come to the Frick Center, Lower Level, Mailroom and present their I.D. to receive their packages.

Renter/Homeowners Insurance
Every student is encouraged to insure his/her personal property as the College does not assume responsibility for loss due to theft or damage to property caused by fire, water, vandalism, or any other cause.  In many cases, students still residing with family may be covered by the policy for the family residence.  Please check with your insurance agent. Another source is National Student Services (NSS), a company that is independent from Elmhurst College.  Elmhurst College makes no representations regarding the accuracy of the information contained on the NSS web site or regarding the nature or quality of the services provided by NSS.

Move-In Packet
As part of the move-in packet you receive when you check in, there is a form that is either a Room Condition Report or an Apartment/House Condition Report.  Please examine your room/apartment/house and note the condition of the listed items.  This form will be used when you check out to determine if there are any damages that are your responsibility.

The packet will also contain:

  • information on setting up your Resicom phone service and voice mail
  • instructions for connecting a computer to the internet
  • information on using your personal voice mailbox
  • furniture configuration possibilities
  • cable & internet information for students living at Elmhurst Terrace
  • tips for successfully living with a roommate & conversation starters
  • EDGE (Residence Life) Handbook
