Fall Term Move-In

First Year students will be able to access their room assignment and the name(s) of their roommate(s) on Bluenet after August 1st.

The Great Move-In is Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from 8 a.m. to noon. This is the day our First Year students arrive. To ease congestion that morning, traffic flow is redirected as the Great Move-In Map shows. Follow the map to your residence hall where you will check-in and Football Team members will assist your move.

The following information will help your move-in to the Residence Halls run smoothly.

  • Have your student's hall and room number handy when you drive up.
  • Campus Security and Football Team members will guide you to a temporary stopping place.
  • One family member or friend stays with the car at all times and unloads items onto the curb.
  • Once items are removed from the vehicle, move the vehicle to a permanent parking spot.
  • Student goes to obtain the check-in packet and keys.
  • Student goes to room, reviews and signs the RCR (Room Condition Report) noting any additions and completes any other paperwork needed to check-in.
  • Return RCR and paperwork to the RA (Resident Adviser) on your floor.
  • Remaining family members or friends and Jay Crew members will move items from the curb to the room.
  • All boxes should go the the vehicle or to dumpsters.  Green dumpsters are provided for recycling.
  • Check-in for Orientation in the Frick Center and review the schedule.

The following groups of people will aid your move-in experience:

  • Elmhurst College Campus Security Officers - Staff in blue uniforms who will guide you to the correct residence halls and a permanent parking spot.
  • Football Team- Student volunteers who will move your student's belongings from the vehicle/curb to the residence hall room.

You and your family may spend the rest of the morning exploring the campus before you enjoy lunch on the Campus Mall. Following lunch there is Family Welcome in the Chapel while you check in for your Big Questions group and have your photo taken for the yearbook.  After that, Orientation begins. Orientation is an opportunity for you to get to know each other, the campus community, the City of Elmhurst, and the Chicago metropolitan area.

Newly admitted transfer students move in on Friday, August 26, 2011 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Returning students, including previous commuter students, move in on Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 9 a.m. to noon.  Apartment and house residents should check in at Prospect Apartments, Unit 1.  Residence Hall residents should check in at their hall.
