Registered Sex Offenders
The Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act of 2000 requires colleges and universities to inform students and employees how to learn the identity of registered sex offenders living on or near campus. This law contains the Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act, which took effect October 23, 2002.
The Illinois State Police administers the Sex Offender Registration Program and serves as a repository for this information.
The information contained in the Statewide Sex Offender Registry is made available pursuant to the requirements of Public Act 91-224 (730 ILCS 152/115 (b)). Efforts have been made to ensure the information is as accurate as possible, however, no guarantee is made or implied. Additional information and verification can be obtained from the local law enforcement agency where the sex offender resides.
Sex offender information is compiled by the Illinois State Police. The State Police maintain a website that allows you to search their sex offender database online at http://www.isp.state.il.us/sor/frames.htm. To learn the identity of registered sex offenders on or near campus, or anywhere in Illinois, visit the Sex Offender Database. Once there, you can search by city, county, or zip code.
