Students of Many Faiths

Elmhurst College is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Like the Church, the College stands for social justice and religious liberty. We attract students of many faiths who want to engage the pressing issues that face the human spirit in a global society.

We support our students’ spiritual growth through a number of special programs and initiatives. The Niebuhr Center, for example, offers academic and field experiences to students who are motivated by faith. The Spiritual Life Council plans and promotes religious and spiritual events on campus. Religious organizations representing different traditions support students as they examine their values and explore their beliefs. A lecture series features the perspectives of diverse theologians and religious leaders.

Throughout the curriculum at Elmhurst, you’ll find a strong understanding of the value of service. Our service-learning programs provide abundant opportunities to engage in effective service—and to combine rigor in the classroom with compassion in the community.
