Elmhurst’s student newspaper is among the most ambitious around. Each year, the staff of The Leader comes home from the convention of the Illinois College Press Association bearing multiple first-place awards.

Alternately serious and sassy, the paper has a reputation for breaking hard news and facing controversy squarely. It’s one of the most independent college papers in the country—students decide everything, learning to make tough calls and stand by their decisions.
