Leadership Opportunities

Elmhurst's Greek community offers a wealth of leadership opportunities for members. From social issues to academia, from business to philanthropy, tomorrow's leaders get their start in fraternities and sororities.

Each chapter offers a wide range of leadership roles, from chairing a committee to serving on the executive board. But Greeks can also take on interfraternity leadership roles in organizations such as Greek Council, Panhellenic Council, Order of Omega, Gamma Sigma Alpha, the Walk for Hope Steering Committee, and others. In addition, Elmhurst's Greek community sponsors a large number of speakers and other programs on issues such as self defense, mature management of alcohol, and maintaining healthy relationships. Social and philanthropic activities also provide opportunities to practice organizational and planning skills.

Panhellenic Council
The Panhellenic Council is the governing body of social sororities. Members from each sorority sit on the Council, determine policies for the member organizations, and work on campus-wide programs.

Order of Omega

The Order of Omega is a recognition society for Greek members who have attained a high standard of leadership in interfraternity activities. Elmhurst's Order of Omega sponsors a number of events on campus, including the annual Greek Awards, which honors the college's fraternities and sororities for their outstanding achievements in leadership, scholarship, brotherhood and sisterhood, and service to the community.

Members are selected each year through an application and essay process. Juniors and seniors with a GPA of 2.8 or above are eligible to apply.

Walk for Hope Steering Committee
Elmhurst's annual Walk for Hope in Memory of Claire Bartels offers a great way to raise money for the American Cancer Society—and hone your leadership skills, too. Since its start in 1996, Walk for Hope has raised over $300,000 to support cancer research and treatment. The Walk for Hope Steering Committee is made up of about a dozen Greek students who plan and implement the entire event.
