At Elmhurst, you'll find a welcoming community where spiritual beliefs count—whatever your religious background. A college of the United Church of Christ, the College stands for social justice and religious freedom. We attract students of many faiths—and of none—who want to engage the pressing issues that face the human spirit in a global society.
We support our students’ spiritual growth through a number of special programs and initiatives. For example:
Niebuhr Center
Elmhurst's Neibuhr Center encourages social engagement among faith-motivated students through academic programs and service activities.
College Chaplaincy
Through worship programs, group activities, and community service, the College Chaplaincy serves all faith traditions, inviting students to further their own religious development while exploring other expressions of faith.
Religious Organizations
From the UCC Fellowship to the Muslim Students Association, Elmhurst’s religious organizations support students from a variety of faith traditions as they examine their values and explore their beliefs.
Religious Lecture Series
Each year, Elmhurst hosts several religious lecture series featuring theologians and religious leaders from diverse traditions.
Service-Learning Opportunities
Throughout the curriculum at Elmhurst, you’ll find a strong understanding of the value of service. Service-learning programs provide abundant opportunities to engage in effective service—and to combine rigor in the classroom with compassion in the community.
