Do you commute to classes at Elmhurst from your home? You’re in good company—more than 2,000 Elmhurst students commute to campus.
Commuting is a great way to balance your studies with family life and responsibilities off campus. But it also poses special challenges: What’s the best way to meet people on campus? How can you get to class on time when there’s a freight train blocking traffic on York Road?
At times, parking can be a headache. Plan to arrive on campus at least 15 minutes in advance of your first class. Expect delays in parking since the lot on Alexander Blvd. fills up early. Check your email for updates. And don't park illegally—you will receive a ticket!
In cases of inclement weather, be sure to check the College's home page to find out if classes have been canceled. You can also try the Elmhurst College inclement weather line: (630) 617-3777.
The College’s Frick Center is here to help. We sponsor a variety of events throughout the year that promote an inclusive campus life. All leadership positions and opportunities for involvement on campus are equally accessible to commuters.
We’re also happy to answer your questions! For more information, please contact Jeannette Smith, assistant director of The Frick Center.
