Half Day Summer Camp

June 10 – August 12, 2013

A great way to extend the excitement of the summer season! Camp is designed for children who want to experience summer fun, learn new skills and develop new friendships!

Weekly Sessions
In addition to our weekly themes, scheduled days may include swimming at the Elmhurst YMCA, trips to the park, museums, library time at the Elmhurst Public Library as well as plenty of activities on our large outdoor area on campus.

  • June 10–14: Incredible Edibles
    Ready for a lip smackin’ good time? Put your chef hat on and enjoy making treats to take home! Make a recipe book too!
  • June 17–21: Rescue Heroes
    Do you ever wonder what it’s like in shoes of a fireman, policeman, or security officer? Want to learn about what to do in case of an emergency? This will be the perfect week for you!
  • June 24–28: Silly Science
    Wacky science experiments! Children will be amazed with these crazy creations. We will take a trip to the Science Center of Elmhurst College where they will see where college students discover their own creations!
  • July 1,2,3,5: Party in the U.S.A.
    Celebrating independence day and learning about our country. Children will learn about the declaration of independence and partake in holiday festivities.
  • July 8–12: Little Picassos
    Picture frames, t-shirt art, and lots of messy fun with the art and crafts you will create this week.. We will also lean about some famous artists.
  • July 15–19: Splish-Splash
    What’s more fun than getting wet in the hot summer sun! That’s right, water games  all week, along with our trip to the pool!
  • July 22–26: Icky Sticky Fun
    Slime, oobleck, and silly putty just to name a few! We will make our own icky things this week. Come and join the fun!
  • July 29–August 2: Tropical Paradise
    What a better way to say goodbye to summer than a visit the great state of Hawaii? Get your lei and grass skirt, because we’re going to have a hula-filled week!
  • August 5–9: Around the World in Five Days
    Calling all travelers! If you’re ready to see the world, this is the trip for you! Visit all seven continents, learn some of the languages, customs, make international crafts.
  • August 12–16: Fun & Fitness
    Get ready to sweat! We will start out with some morning P.T. doing some yoga and some cardio activities, followed by a morning full of blood-pumping, high energy games!

Camp Hours
Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m.–12:00 noon

Facilities and Location
Camp is held at the Elmhurst College Child Care Center, 190 Prospect Avenue in Elmhurst, in Dinkmeyer Hall. Camp activities will be held at the College, utilizing Wilder Park, the YMCA and other locations within walking distance.

Staff and Leadership
Trained staff includes an experienced director and Elmhurst College students. The camper’s safety is our primary concern. All staff is CPR and First Aid certified.

Program Fees
$90 per week. Register on or before April 5th and pay only $85 per week.

Limited space is available so please be mindful that registration is taken on a first-come first-serve basis. Only 16 slots available per week.

Arrangements can be made for campers who plan to attend for less than five days. Please call for details (3 day minimum).
