The counseling staff at the College consists of licensed professional counselors, however, they do not specialize in addiction, rehabilitation or recovery. Counseling staff can offer intake sessions, initial assessments and referrals to resources in the community (this may be to professional counselors, treatment programs or the off-campus resources listed below).
It is important to know that the College does not offer resources for students that need immediate help with an alcohol or drug addiction, nor does the College have the resources to meet the needs of students currently participating in in-patient treatment programs. Also, there are no addiction counseling groups, AA, NA or ACOA, that meet on campus.
For students engaged in treatment and recovery, leave of absence options are available to assist students that stop out and re-enter. Undergraduate students should contact the Office of Student Affairs and graduate students should contact the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs regarding the leave of absence policy and procedures.
