Throughout a student's four years in the President's Leadership Academy, four components remain at the forefront of the program:
Family-Like Structure and Leadership Programming
Academy participants gather for bi-weekly meetings and monthly forums with their fellow students. Meetings and forums are designed to foster students' self-formation, leadership development, civic involvement and engagement through the College's core values. In addition, students participate in discussions about common readings.
Tutoring and Study Opportunities
Academy participants have the opportunity to engage in weekly tutoring through the Learning Center or various campus departments, or by joining an ongoing study group with fellow Academy participants.
Mentoring and Professional Preparation
During years one through three, participants are matched with upper-level students who provide guidance and support from the earliest transitions to preparing for graduation. During the fourth year, Academy participants are paired with an alumni mentor who will work with students as they transition into professional life or graduate school.
Academy participants regularly engage with some of the dozens of College organizations and events. For example, second-year students attend the Sophomore Success Workshop, juniors participate in a resume-writing workshop, and seniors take part in mock interviews for graduate school or professional employment.
