Walter Brueggemann

Walter Brueggemann, Elmhurst College Class of 1955, is a widely published author, United Church of Christ minister, and professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.

As a scholar and as a teacher, Brueggemann earns accolades from far and wide. The Cleveland Plain Dealer called him “perhaps the foremost Christian scholar of the Hebrew Bible.” Mark Thiessen Nation of the London Mennonite Center says of Brueggemann, “There is no scripture scholar in America who sells more books or informs more sermons. … If there is any one author every preacher should have in his or her library, it should be Walter Brueggemann.”
