Academic Snapshot Program: Organizational Leadership & Communication
Join Dr. Sarah Strom Kays for a workshop titled ‘Bullying in the Workplace’
This unique opportunity allows individuals to receive an academic “snapshot” of the OLC major and offers you the ability to sit in on a lecture and participate in a collaborative workshop. This workshop will allow individuals to gain a better understanding of the subject matter, teaching style and class structure in the accelerated Organizational Leadership and Communication major.
Bullying is not limited to playgrounds and classrooms. We see it in our workplaces. Maybe we have been on the receiving end of this negative workplace experience. Others may have observed co-workers being the recipients of a bully’s actions. Perhaps, some are even the bully themselves. In this workshop we will begin to identify destructive communicative practices at work and developing ways to overcome them. The workshop takes a descriptive approach focusing on individual behaviors to begin to change our workplace environments.
Goal of the session:
- Defining destructive communication at work
- What does it sound/feel like
- How we can be more civil in our workplaces
- Making it work
The Academic Snapshot Program is open to the public, as well as current Elmhurst College students.
