Who Was Claire Bartels?

“She loved and was loved”...that sums up Claire Bartels.

Claire Bartels, who succumbed to cancer in December of 1995, was the wife of Vice President for College Relations Ken Bartels, the mother of Elmhurst College alumna Amy Bartels, and a member of Gamma Chi Sorority. Because Claire was a proponent of brotherhood and sisterhood, the Elmhurst College Greek Community could think of no better tribute than to create a community-based philanthropy in her name.

As Ken Bartels has said, “Claire was a friend and had friends... No one will ever forget her.”
