Aid Basics and Eligibility

Elmhurst University offers aid based on demonstrated financial need to supplement scholarships offered at the time of admission. A variety of other financing options are available for those who are not eligible for need-based aid.

In addition, to be eligible for federal, state and institutional need-based assistance, students must be:

• Eligible according to federal student aid requirements
• Formally admitted to Elmhurst University and enrolled in an eligible program
• Meet enrollment requirements for the specific funds awarded
  • Elmhurst University Scholarship funds and need-based grants require full-time enrollment
  • Federal and state grant funds may be awarded to students enrolled less than full-time, depending on their eligibility determined by the FAFSA.
• Maintaining satisfactory academic progress

Verification of Financial Aid Information

Some students who complete the FAFSA may be selected for verification, a federal process used to confirm the accuracy of the information reported on the FAFSA.

If selected, students will be notified and required to submit additional documentation to Student Financial Services. Requested documents may include tax information, verification worksheets, or other supporting materials. Many commonly requested forms are available on the Forms and Documents page, and documents can be submitted securely through the Secure Document Upload Tool.

All required documentation must be submitted by established deadlines. Failure to provide requested information may delay processing, result in changes to financial aid eligibility, or prevent disbursement of aid.

Verification must be completed before federal financial aid can be disbursed. The university also reviews and resolves any conflicting or incomplete information that may affect eligibility. If verification results in changes to FAFSA data or financial aid awards, students will be notified and can review updated information through the student portal.
